I need to know what are shop vacs and compressers, what other uses do they have, and step by step on closing my pool

p.s I have a underground pool and about 35000 gallons

Use a compressor, but regulate it to less than 60 psi.
Disconnect every removable fitting at the pump, filter, heater (especially heater).

Blow out each section of pipe individually and clear the heater, filters and pump seperately. Dont recommend blowing out the heater with very much pressure at all, the pipes are usually weaker.

Like smart_e said, you need a compressor. We tried the shop vac thing but it didn't have enough oomph.

Compressor is nice to have around for filling up your car tires and basketballs.

I agree with both the other answers. Once the pipe is no longer full, the vac will be useless as it has nothing to pull against.
