Which was back in the seventies. Yet he didn't leave his position in the house of Representatives until 1997.
Why would Democrats support a man like that?
Did Foley or Haggerty get standing ovations from Republicans?
I think not.
Larry Craig's hypocrisy is nauseating, but the Dems are in no position to be smug.

You're really grasping when you have to dig back 40 years. I seriously doubt ANYONE, gave him a standing ovation when he admitted sex with under age boys. Dems or Republicans don't appreciate pervs.

You either didn't read your own link closely, or you're deliberately distorting the truth. You are implying that a large group of national Democrats, like his House colleagues, gave Studds a standing ovation. They didn't. They censured him, almost unanimously. The ovation came from a group of local supporters at a town hall meeting in his home district, presumably because he had the guts to ADMIT being gay, unlike the hypocritical, duplicitous, and fatally stubborn Senator Craig.
Studds had consensual sex with a page of LEGAL AGE (17. Another oversight or deception on your part). This is ethically troubling, but not illegal. Craig pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime. Also, the Studds case is over thirty years old.
Stop grasping at irrelevant straws to defend the image of your morally corrupt, pandering, dishonest political party. Fewer and fewer people are swallowing your propaganda these days.

I would imagine he was applauded because he stood up and admitted what he did which couldn't have been easy. If he didn't leave his position as a representative, that means his constituents voted him back into office repeatedly.
I think it is pretty obvious why democrats are making such a big deal out of all the scandals within the republican party lately. Its fine to promote morals, but what large group of people can actually live up to that. The mistake was in taking ownership of morals, family values, and integrity. People of both parties possess those attributes. People of both parties do not. We are all individuals and subject to the temptations of life.

Wow.You're forgetting it's been known for twenty five years that Mr.Craig was lying about his sexuality, but they let him continue on attacking gays that entire time.It was only when he got caught that they disowned him.
Shall we talk about Mark Foley?
Or all the the Republicans busted for soliciting sex in restrooms or parks the past few years?Or all the Republicans across the country busted for child molestation the past few years?

Democrats applaud at the mere mention of stranding our troops by not financing or supporting them.
Applauding Studds is based on the same mentality.

I just don't understand you people. You abhor homosexuality and then defend any Republican congressman who is "exposed."
Quit worrying about the Dems and get your own house in order.
