Call your Internet Service Provider (ISP), they will help you sort this out.

You have several options but to me this sounds like an overactive firewall. Windows default firewall stops PING going through (I know, it hacks me off too). Disable this and the ping should return (unless you have another firewall too).

To be honest though, this reeks of some problems I always used to have with that godawful Norton Internet Security Suite - more trouble than it's worth.

You may also have forgotten to put the default gateway in, so make sure that if you have a router (wireless or otherwise) it's address is in the default gateway. Also, double check that in Internet Explorer (or your equivalent browser) that a Proxy Server is either specified or blank as required. I assume (unless you're in a work environment) that you won't be using a proxy and these settings need disabling (Tools > Connections > LAN Settings - in IE anyway)

Good luck
