I never used nursery water. I used tap water which depending on where i was would be well water or city water and my daughter had no problems. Bottle water is fine to use too but I only used that when I went out places to shop or eat...it's just handy and my daughter liked room temp water. If your water is good where you live then it wouldn't hurt to do tap water.

We use water from the tap, but boil it. We have a well.
As for the fluoride in the nursery water, our pedi gave us vitamin drops for the fluoride since the well water doesn't have the fluoride in it. The vitamins are cheaper than buying nursery water or bottled water all the time.

After 4 months I started using tap water. My sister-in-law has a masters in food sciences and she informed me that there is more bacteria and such in bottled water than tap water. So I decided it was better to just use the tap water here since it is pretty clean.

By this point, a 5 month old should be able to drink the same water as everyone else. Buy a brita pitcher and keep it in the fridge. And unless you have really poor tap water, it should be fine.

i was never told to use "special" water for my premature twins. they had normal old tap water. i had never even heard about nursery water or using bottle water for formula till the internet. if you are under a boil advisory, or have been told to NOT use the water then i would suggest the nursery water as it has added flouride (like most city's tap has it added). bottled water, or spring water does NOT.

If your tap water is fine use it because it has fluoride, which babies need for healthy teeth and its free. If your uncertain about your tap water call your Dr's. office and ask what they recommend. Otherwise use Nursery water since it has the fluoride already in it. Hope this helps.

I always used regular bottle water. Just as long as you live in an area where the water is safe....

Use nursery water for these reasons:
You have really bad city water and you won't even drink it
You have well water and even if you do drink it you should still use nursery water for long time because it has flouride in it that well water doesn't. They need flouride for their teeth even if they don't have them yet. I think you can stop when they start to use toothpaste that has flouride in it.
The flouride is the only benefit to nursery water.

you can use regular tap water as long as your area has clean water. nursery water is a waste of money.

Don't use bottled or purified water because there is no flouride in it and is bad for kids teeth. My cousin had that problem w/ her son and her dr said tap water is best.
