I have a rendered shed and have painted the outside with emulsion but on the back ive painted on a water repellent .Im concerned that the fumes have crept through the render past the e.m.l wire and under the plastic black type underlay and through the ply sheeting and through into my room airspace.I'm suffering a reaction in my ears and have been told its due to something im breathing in,ive emptied the room of anything suspect but still have the problem. As normal i get absolutely everyone telling me how weird this is and yes it sounds it...but have looked on the back of tin and repellent says that it could be hazardous...back of shed is unseen and chose the repellent as there are trees behind it...any ideas?

i work on building sites all over and never had problems like this before in 25 years and am not "sleeping in shed"at all.maybe the timber treatment has something to do with the make up and its maybe reacting with something else but it still remains unexplained even after all this time :(

what the hell are you doing sleeping in a shed ?.the type of waterproofer you have used probably is the solvent type ...it smells bit like w d 40 ..excellent product but you are meant to leave to dry out ...I'm trying to understand the construction of this shed ..it sounds like a wooden shed with mesh on outside to take render and ply lined inside ...you should have applied render in two coats with a waterproofer in the mix .then if you wanted to..apply the water repellent to the out side at least two coats ..then when dry painted it with exterior masonry paint ..two coats again ..the repellent has a strong smell but you don't say if you can smell it ..if worried leave windows and door open

welll if mustard gas can penetrate clothing, leather and rubber goods rapidly, and attacks the skin as well as the mucous membrane, thus affecting the whole body. Such agents are called vasicants.

Then it is highly probable that the treatment you used can penetrate rendering after all its pourous and has to escape somwhere especially if the outer surface is sealed..!!

open your windows and turn up the heat and sleep somewhere else for a few days guy..
