It's Ironic, they claim to have the best fighting force in the world. But in reality, they killed more in friendly fire than they have killed enemies in combat.
There's always a chance that they might be doing it on purpose...lol

During the Falklands conflict, British missile batteries on board ship and land based, regularily locked on to British targets (aircraft and other vessels.
More british aircraft were brought down by britis fire than by argentinian.
Moden day missiles are a fantastic weaon when fired and used in the middle of a desert region (or ocean) with only the one target in view.
Like all technology, it is not infallable.
Very unfortunate turn of events but try asking the troops if they would rather get rid of the close air support.
I know what they will tell you to do!

Friendly fire is not a new thing it is as old as warfare.
Some 60+ years ago a British submarine was not laughing when it signalled an ETA to it's base adding "Friendly forces permitting" It had been attacked several times by the RAF who had not been told that there was a British Sub in the area.

I suppose it must be difficult if you are up in the air and the target is near our own troops to differentiate who is who. Perhaps they could place a different marker on the tanks or helmets of the allies every day so that no mistakes can be made, it wouldn't have to be anything elaborate just maybe a coloured sticker used only when the planes were above.

If you had bothered to listen to the news, it was stated on BBC News 24 that the bomb involved had suffered a malfunction and strayed off course. We cant really blame the yanks for that one, provided of course we are being told the truth.
Such incidents have been happening since time began.
At the end of the day accidents or mistakes due to carelessness as i prefer to call them happen and we should try to learn from them and prevent them.
Incidentally i send my sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the poor squaddies killed in any theatre of war.

Whoa...are you saying they did it on purpose....c'mon...I am from UK and America provides the vast majority of air assets in Afghanistan...so the odds that an American pilot will make a mistake are greater than an RAF pilot...did you know that American vehicle have a electronic digital identifier that stops their own forces being hit....we have stick on bits of plastic...if our Govt. provided our Forces with up to date equipment suitable for the job instead of Land Rovers used 30 years ago in Northern Ireland...these things may not happen. Get your facts right.

It's not a new thing, blue on blue (friendly fire) has always been a problem for any armed force, but the problem with the yanks is they have fantastically advanced tech, but their training or experience isn't up to using it. (Hence the gung ho yank marines tendency to empty his clip into the first thing he sees in combat.)

you do realize that they are given orders as to what to do....so dont blame the troops blame bush, he doesnt know what to have them do since he never fought in a war before. i hate pres. bush, i truly do....maybe if he would be honest with us for once i might have SOME TINY LIL BIT of respect for him.....but that is asking to much of him.
