take her for a day at the spa and get her a manicure and pedicure.

Please help me. My s-daughter will be 11 this year and I need help with b-day and xmas. She spends every other weekend with us. I hate buying things that are not used. Frustrating! I want something with Wow-factor. She is still young in that she plays with teddy bears (build a bear) but is...

Wow, can I relate. My step-daughter is extremely hard to please. I can't tell you how many hundreds of dollars of clothes, toys, books ect.. that have gone to Goodwill with the tags still on them or still wrapped in cellophane because she won't use them.
I admire you trying to get a Wow out of something you are buying. I finally gave up last year and settled for gift cards. I don't know if she loves them but she always uses them.
My step-daughter is not into anything remotely girly, but I might suggest taking her to a spa for a mani and pedi. If you don't get along really well maybe she could bring a friend along. 11 might be a little young but if she likes that sort of thing she will think it is cool.
Good luck!!

If she like makeup, you can buy her a makeup kit for her to experiement with. Or you could buy her a bunch of nail polishes like the ones in Avon which have a cool metallic look to them. They come in some great colors. Since she is turning 11, you could buy her the movie "My Girl" which is about a 11 year old girl getting her period for the first time and it is just a good movie (warning: there is one death in it because of an allergic reaction to bees). You could buy her a throw pillow or whatever you call those things. They sell them at Walmart and craft stores and they are the type that you pull the string through with a hook and there a design. Those are really fun for crafty people and not hard. You could also buy her a make your own jewelry set. They sell really nice beads at AC Moore and they don't look childish and she can be creative with it. Good luck and hope I was some help.

my 11 year old daughter loves American girl stuff, they have a magazine that she cant wait to get in the mail. Get her a subscription to that. They also have a great line of lotions, books, shampoos and tons of dolls or clothes for her. Great place to try for that age. My daughter is 11 and has a crap load of their book. They help with all the crazy things that go along with her age group.... my daughter just got the book called "getting ready for middle school" and she has read it over and over. Also bracelets are real popular now - tons of dangly ones, all different colors works. Heelys shoes are fun or maybe a day at the spa with you.... that is always a great bonding experience too! Who doesn’t love a mani pedicure session?!?!? The Wii system is a great family gift as well, we play ours a couple times a week and play tournaments on the bowling and tennis when it is rainy outside. Good luck to ya!

Cd walkmen,Cd's,manicure kit,Lisa Frank stationary sets,purse,clothes,videos,camera,mp3 player,Ipod,watch,books that she is interested in,board games,sand art,jewlery making kit.
My daughter just turned 12 and these were the sort of things that she was interested in when she was 11 and some of the things she still likes but the others she feels that she is too old for them now within a year. Also at this age it would be a good idea to get her to write a list of things that she wants that way you have a variety to choose from.I have a 12 and 13 year old daughters and this year we are giving them money or gift cards for christmas because they are so hard to shop for at their ages. That way they can get whatever it is that they want.

You could make her a gift basket of things that she likes. Put things in it like scrubs and nail polish and masks. You can then have a make-over for each other when her birthday comes. It'll be fun because girls that age want to experiment with make-up and such, but aren't sure how to. For the arts and crafts, you can take her to Micheal's and get her some things that she wants. Try to teach her knitting or crocheting. I learned how to knit when I was about 11 and it was fun, so maybe it'll be fun for her too.

Why dont you just ask her what she would like? Tell her you want to buy her something she would use or play with or whatever. If you are close, maybe give her money insted and take her shoping where she can pick what she wants! By the way if you just ask her, she might pick something expensive so giving her the money might be easier for you! Also, if you are going to give her money you can still buy her little prezzies to go with it eg:
Hair brader?
Nail polishs?
Craft sets, sewing, knitting, rug making, card making sets?
I live in the UK and theres a place where you can go and pick your own teddy bear, watch him be stuffed, get clothes and stuff for them, so that might be an idea if you have that where you live
hope i helped

Why not take her shopping and have some quality time together and get to know what her "wow" gifts would be. Come right out and ask her to make a wish list and tell her she won't get everything on the list but that you would like some ideas.
