Actually the problem with the 2.7 is poor oil passages. The class action lawsuit won't fly because enough of them didn't fail. The engines that did fail had poor maintenance. Yes the 2.7 does need proper maintenance. Mainly the oil needs to be changed every 3000 miles on the button. Because of the poor oil flow and to some degree the poor cooling (it contributes) the 2.7 sludges. What happens to conventional oil is after about 3000 miles it tends to degrade very fast. Then if it also has poor cooling the waxes in the oils turn to sludge.
If you really like the car that's fine but take it to a shop you trust and have them pull the oil pan and see how much sludge is in the engine. (Don't do an engine flush) The should charge you about 2 hours labor to pull the pan. If there is sludge in it they'll see it. It won't hurt anything for them to pull it. If they say it's too sludged up, just take it back and don't buy it.
Jasper reman's these engines where they open the oil passages. They make 12 improvements to the engine oiling system alone. This motor isn't cheap. About $4500 retail. If you know a shop that won't mark it up it's still $3500. Then you are looking at $1000 to $1500 to have a new one installed.
Don't buy an extended warranty to protect yourself as an alternative. If the motor fails they will blame poor maintenance and they won't cover your motor.
The 2.7 is a peppy little motor. It produces more power than a lot of other companies bigger V6's. A 2.7 sounds small but not this engine. It will give you all the power you need and it will pull a heavy car around with ease. It will cruise at 70-80 no problem. It has good bottom end pickup. It's not quite as quick from 45-70 if you ask it to respond say during passing on a two lane blacktop. You will need a little bit more space than you may anticipate because of how quick it is from 0-45. It's not a problem, just something to be aware of. The small cubes is the issue at higher speeds. You feel more disparity between low end and higher end acceleration on the 2.7. More than most any other vehicle. Again it's not a problem, just something you'll notice.

i don't own one but i get to work on plenty of them,id stay away from it with the 2.7 in it,that wasn't one of Chrysler's worst engines, they gave a lot of problems and still do for the people who own them, the cars was nice,if they had a better engine in them, the 2.7 was a bad engine, and will cause you problems, good luck.

Stay away from the 2.7 litre Dodge engine, they are very bad engines.
There are several class action lawsuits for them right now, they blow head gaskets faster than a 3.1 Chevy engine
