I am not sure if she got bit or twisted herself on something. Her back paws fold under when she tries to walk and the only way she can get around is with me holding up her back legs. She has not gone to the restroom yet either. This happened yesterday morning. She does not seem to be in any discomfort. I have never seen this before in a dog and would like any input anyone might have.

Sounds as though she's got a disc problem in her spine, close to her tail. This could account for the disuse and the fact that she's not feeling pain MAY be due to where on the nerve is being impinged. Without testing, you can't be sure.

I wouldn't think hip dysplacia because it's both sides at once. Bladder tumors can also cause pressure on the nerves which make the legs work.

IMMEDIATELY take her to the Vet and have her checked out. But hopefully you have by now. Depending on your financial situation, they can do surgery for ruptured disc, just like on people, and have been since the late 80's but it's not cheap.
Please post the follow results.
Hope she does well.

My blue heeler went the same way,one day fine next day a limp then her back end went totally paralysed, the vet had no idea what had happened,(maybe a snake bite, maybe this maybe that) she started getting steroid injections,no good then pain medication, didn,t change anything. My husband made her a wheelchair and she loved it, because she could still run around chasing the football, then one day i got up to take her outside for her business (and i knew the time was here, the smile had left her face because she had soiled herself through the night) I knew what we had to do,but i didn,t want to she was my baby and she was only 8yrs old,i stayed up all night with her, telling her i needed her and that she was being selfish leaving me behind.God i loved my dog more than life itself. We buried Cassie out in the yard with a wishing well over her grave, with her name engraved on it.I hope your story has a happy ending as mine did not.RIP Cassie April 4th 1991 till September 8th 1999.

Get this dog to a vet NOW. This sounds as if it could be cauda equina, a very very s erious condition, and the dog often loses control of bladder and bowels eventually. It is a condition affecting some of the nerves in part of the spine. No point giving you the whole story, but you absolutely have to get your dog to a vet. She is in distress, not necessarily from any pain, but because of this body failure. If you love your dog, then get her help now.

Call your Vet. I had a german shepherd growing up and this happened to him. It is a common problem known to German Shepherds. Some days he could not get up and maybe the next he could but with a bad limp. It is like arthritis. But my GS got this when he was pretty old. Is your GS older?

Why the hell have you not taken her to a vet? What you are doing right now is bordering on abuse...you know she has a problem but you're not doing anything about it...people seem to think that just because a dog can't tell you there's something wrong that everything is okay. Get her to a vet ASAP!

The vet will probably tell you that you dog has what is termed hip dysplasia. Which is not uncommon for dogs of large breeds. Good luck and sorry to hear that you pet/friend is undergoing this malady.

She should've been taken to the vet immediately. Could be a hip or spinal issue, but it's not normal and handling her could have just make it worse and done permanent damage.

Get her to the vet ASAP...this is VERY serious!

Why would you not have taken her to the vet immediatly? The longer you let her move around the more damage could be done. IT' may have something to do with her hips. Get her checked out ASAP

This is a spinal injury: Possibly cancer of the spine

A contrast x-ray or MRI is needed ASAP!

Go to your vet now!

Good Luck and God Bless to your wonderful dog and you
