Over and over again, I'm seeing these Democratic pundits say that the Craig issue: "Is not about being gay; it's about hypocrisy". Hmmmm....Well I thought Craig was apprehended attempting to solicit homosexual sex in a public restroom? I thought gay meant homosexual in today's vernacular?
I don't know about the rest of you, but the vision that I got, when I heard this story, was one of a nasty SOB hanging out in a place that most people only frequent when they have to and trying to fulfill the desires of his greatest evils with a member of the same sex.

And to my knowledge hypocrisy isn't illegal, but perverted sexual acts in public places are.

Ok Jurydoc, but the only people who are having sex in men's rooms are gay men. I still can't fathom how people cannot understand that this is a gay issue.

Grumpy, I didn't say all Democrats. I said the Democratic pundits. I myself have voted Democrat more often than not.

As long as he was a republican they would have a problem. No matter what he did. Just more lies to self justify their baseless attacks.

Look at it this way...if gay marriage were legal then there would be no need for all this down-low activity.

Did you see that an Idaho District Court struck down the state's gay marriage ban?

"On August 30, the Iowa District Court for Polk County issued a 63-page decision in Varnum v. Brien. The ruling affirms that same-sex couples must be allowed to marry based on the guarantee of equal treatment under the law contained in the Iowa Constitution."

Hmmm. The Constitution really does create liberty and justice for all! Why do conservatives have such a problem with freedom???

Yes, Craifg is a hypocrite. He openly opposes gay rights, yet it appears he is, at the very least, bi-sexual.

The hypocrisy is from the republican party.

Here is a Senator whose only crime is "creating a public disturbance." Hardly enough of a crime to ask him to step down, yet the pressure from the GOP for Craig to resign is overwhelming.

It's just too em-bare-assing for the repubs to openly oppse gay rights and have one of their own caught in a "supposed" compromising position.

Liberals don't care if the guy is gay, but it's the hypocrisy of both Craig, and the GOP that is the issue.

God forbid if you're gay with conservative principles and belong to the current republican party.

You'd better not ever come out of the closet!

Well, you've ALMOST got it. The question is not at all about whether or not he is gay. It is whether or not he broke the law, any law. It is mere coincidence that the law in question is related to the issue of gayness. Actually, he pled guilty to disorderly conduct. If you read the statute on disorderly conduct that applies in Minnesota you see that it states:

609.72 DISORDERLY CONDUCT Subdivision 1. Crime.
Whoever does any of the following in a public or private place, including on a school bus, knowing, or having reasonable grounds to know that it will, or will tend to, alarm, anger or disturb others or provoke an assault or breach of the peace, is guilty of disorderly conduct, which is a misdemeanor:

(1) Engages in brawling or fighting; or
(2) Disturbs an assembly or meeting, not unlawful in its character; or
(3) Engages in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct or in offensive, obscene, or abusive language tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others.

A person does not violate this section if the person's disorderly conduct was caused by an epileptic seizure.

It appears it is subsection (3) that the officer invoked in the charges. You are correct, hypocrisy is not illegal, but disorderly conduct of this type in Minnesota is.

Why yes, all of us Democrats are really gay. What i don't understand is how the gay marriage proposal was shot down by 10 to 1 in most states. I guess we didn't want to come out of the closet yet.

I don't have a problem with openly Gay or Homosexual people. I do however, have a problem with sexual perverts. Of which the Senator is.

Regarding the hypocrisy issue, the problem we have is that he has been strongly opposed to rights for homosexuals, while apparently being in the closet himself. We don't care that he's gay, we care that he's gay but works against rights for other homosexuals.

And, to top it off, now he's a criminal.

Obviously they would. It is clear that the have absolutely no compassion for the psychological torment and depression that some homosexuals live with.

--stiggo. Some attorney you are. Has he been FOUND guilty in a court of Law?

It's about being a hypocrite, a liar, and an arrogant old White Guy. Which is what Senator Craig is. Really, who cares if he's gay? Whipping out that "Senator Card" (quite literally!) followed by a "What do you think about that?"

"Well, looks like I've arrested myself a Senator"

Well played, officer!
