Dont know if this is true where you are, but it seems like most silences of respect are held at 11am, such as rememberence sunday (i know why that is), and anniversaries of the london 7/7 bombings, diana's death memorials. Is there any significance with 11am?

The two minute silence was an actm of rememberance for the fallen in WW1 (the Great War) . An armastice which ended the war was agreed and hostilities ceased ar 11:am on the 11th November 1918 hence the 11 o'clock custom.
I do tend to feel that he one minutes silence is not really , I don't know, I can't put it into words to express my actual feelings other than to say I do not feel very happy/comfortable/sure at the development without actually being able to say why

It's a tradition that started with Armistice Day marking the end of the First World War at 11 minutes past 11am on the 11th November.

i think its down to the war ending on the 11th day of11th month at the11th hour i think thats why.world war one that is.
