In some areas of Germany there is a smoking ban, but you will be informed on every location, where it is not allowed to smoke. In my opinion the smoking ban is the best law America has got during the last 8 years. Hope it will come soon in Germany

Only in all public transport, but in general (restaurants, pubs) the Bavarian law on banned smoking only will be in force January 2008.

Not in Munich, but you have to be careful if you travel into other areas of Germany as there is a smoking ban in Baden-Württemberg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Niedersachsen where you're not aloud to smoke indoors in bars, clubs, restaurants and other public places.
Enjoy your trip!
