I've been looking into getting a cell phone, but I'm not sure which to choose. Everyone I've talked to has a diffrent opinion about which provides the best service. I'm thinking either nextel, or verizon. Any thoughts? I just don't want to sign a 2 year contract and be stuck with crappy service.

Verizon has best covrge in the Eastern Part of the USA>
Go to verizon . com and go to the map that gives coverage area. then check the area that you live and work and hopefully it will give you the best indication that you will be in a service area.
Ex Vz employee and I do remember that parts of Maine are without any service by Vz.
So check the map and even do a check of a competitor and see if they have better coverages.

If you want to compare cell phone services available in your area, go to www.acnwireless.com and you can compare prices for phones and services within your area. My sister got her service with AT&T and was able to save a large amount on her cell phone.
