Not only can the employer tell what websites you access but they can tell what files you download, can read incomming and outgoing e-mail, and if they are reeeeeally curious what you are doing on your work computer they can go as far as knowing what you typed on your computer using key logging software. There's all sorts of logging/tracking software and every computer on your network has a unique identifying IP number so they can tell which computer was responsible for what activity.

Basically do not do anything on your work computer that you wouldn't do knowing your boss was standing beside you.

It's their network, their computer and their business. If you do something illegal on the net they trace it back to where you work....and no your boss wouldn't enjoy a visit from law enforcement.........

Yes, of course he can. The courts ruled long ago that companies have the right to view and monitor how company property is being used. Logging the information is trivial

How about you stop worrying about whether your boss is spying you and worry about doing the job you've been paid to do. If you and your coworkers had confined your surfing to only break times maybe you'd still be able to go there.

Internet blockers or firewalls do a lot more than simply regulate access to web sites. They almost always log ALL Internet access. Our firewall logs are enormous, about 5 GB of data per month. But there are several reports I can run to get the data I want.

So if your employer wants to catch you, it is not all that difficult if your network administrators are any good.

Not only can your employer tell what websites you access, they can track any, and all network use. Also, if they set up a few differant applications, they can see everything you do on your work PC.

They can also add differant access lists on your network that can block just about anything.

Short answer. Yes.

Anything done through your work's internet connection can be (and in many business manager's mind, should be) monitored.

If you think about it, the company is paying you for your time, AND paying for the internet connection, and most likely paying for the hardware used. It is kind of their right to see how their stuff is used.

Of course he can. He should. You are paid to work.

By the way he can fire you for such violations and you have no recourse. You deserve no recourse.

I would get my resume updated and do this at home. I suspect you will need it.

Concentrate on work matters at work.
