I have had a breast reduction and am experiencing terrible itching on the scars and also knife stabbing pains in the breasts three months after the surgery. How long does this go on for? Does anyone know?

Its normal and a pain in the butt!

This means you are healing.

Try not to scratch.

If your incisions are closed, start massaging the scars with lotions to help ease the itchiness.

If it really bothers you, talk to the PS, you are paying him to take care of you!

I have a friend who has had the surgery. She had it done several years ago and the scars are only obvious when she gets a spray tan. The rest of the time, you would have to look closely to see them. Her results are enough to make me consider the surgery. Keep in mind that a lot of the "afters" that you are seeing are only a month or two on from the surgery and the difference 6 months later would look different. Once the swelling goes down, that's a good indicator of how you'll look, but healing is still not done. My mother had an eye lift and it took 4 months for her eyes to look "normal" Sure, the swelling and bruising was long gone, but healing takes a while. That said, my mother's plastic surgeon recommended taking Arnica Montana for a month before the surgery and a month after.

Scars After Breast Reduction

hey there -
i had the same surgery so *i feel your pain*.
the itching is normal...and actually, it depends on how well you heal. i have scars left over that are pretty noticeable..it's just how my body heals..but they'll itch occassionally, it's actually kind of rare now.
The "knife stabbing pains in the breasts"...well that's all of your nerves healing. I hated that..and i think it lasted up to about 6 months on me.
it does get better! there's really nothing you can do about the nerves...i remember it would take my breath away sometimes because it would happen so suddenly..but it gets better!! i promise!!!
congrats on your surgery! it was the best choice i ever made :)

itching around any scar is normal...If it is ok'd by your doctor they do sell saline based soloutions for anti itching.

Some however, are advised against around puncture wounds.

I find that Bactine helps with itch-Its safe, cooling and it does not have that bad of a medical scent.

I use bactine in body piercings as it helps with the itching of creating a "scar cylindar"...

Neuropathy is a unpleasant infection but with the book of Dr. Randall Labrum, Neuropathy Solution, a guide that you will discover here https://tr.im/iLAkp you are able to remove thermosetting suffering this condition cause it.
If you follow all the treatment alternatives shown in Neuropathy Solution guide correctly your mind may launch endorphins, or “happy chemicals”, and these can help you combat pain and reduce stress.
The Neuropathy Solution does not need a lot of principle, just of good use advice as you are able to put to work immediately.

Sometimes that stabbing pain is your nerves coming back. Itching sometimes can mean its healing but it also could be a reaction to the sutures used in your procedure. I would consult your doctor just to be sure. My friend had a reduction and had a reaction to her sutures. At her next surgery they used different sutures and she didnt have a problem!

Itching around a scar is normal, stabbing pain is not. You should consult your doctor, you shouldn't have to be uncomfortable and hurting.
