haha, i remember those days when i spent hours cleaning up space... nowdays new computers come easily with enormous capacities. in the long run, it will be definitely beneficial to simply buy a new computer, or at least an external hard drive to store bulky, non-essential files.

anyways, you will want to go through drive (D:) and clean up unecessary files.

1) Hit My Computer and right click the drive (D:), click "Properties" and near the pie-chart click "Disk Clean-up". Go through the wizard and remove the temporary files. It will also have the option to free up the space used for the computer to hibernate, which is the same size as your RAM.

2) Go to "My Documents" or wherever you store personal files and remove, in order of priority: a) movies, b) pictures, c) music, d) documents. Movies take up incredible amounts of space and can easily free some 2 GB if you keep movies.

3) Remove unused Users using the Control Panel --> User Accounts. Some User profiles can take 1-2 GB of space even if unused.

4) Go to Control Panel --> "Add/ Remove Programs" and remove all the applications you don't need. Probaly will free up as much space as deleting your movies, but be sure the programs are uneeded.

5) If you can't find what's taking up all the space, get a free program like TreeSize to scan your hard drive. It will rank the largest files/ folders for you. Immensely useful in hunting down memory hogs. Of course, you will need enough space to install the program first.

6) Last resort, decrease the Paging File size. Not recommend, but worth looking into to get that last 512 MB.

U can free the space on it by going to MY COMPUTER and going into D drive and delete stuff u dont need.

Or u can buy a USB or portable hard drive to have some extra space but that depends on how much space u need.

remove some files - delete the dead wood - copy some to another drive - it is like cleaning out the closet in that you have a finite amount of space and you have too much stuff in it.

Usually you have deadwood that is best discarded; people become pack rats and keep stuff that is best discarded.

uninstall programs you don't use. Move items worth saving to storage media such as a DVD or CD (if you have a recorder).
