This superstition began in WW1. As a group of soldiers would light their cigarettes, a sniper would watch. The first one tolight up, the sniper would see. On the second, he would aim at the light. On the third, he would fire. Too bad for the third man.

It can be either way. But it does always happen in 3's. Sometimes all three happen simultaneously. Sometimes it happens over a long period of time.

It mainly only applies to triplets.
The saying started because after the initial thing, it prepares you for another 2 things so they dont seem that bad.

No but a lot of things appear to, its probably coincidence and our own ability to subconsciously discount other things that go on in our lives.

no not every thing comes in threes. idiots in my class come in groups in 6. idiots in my school come in groups of 35. spoilt brats in my school come in 8's and pets in my family that run away come in 2's.
