Anyone who is on this forum right now, cannot answer your question without bias.

We don't even know what that concept is: Without TV? Even those who don't own TVs, have still encountered them. It's part of our daily rituals; we don't even think about it anymore. I'd think it would be a hard-pressed task to find someone who can remember when not every home in the US had at least one television. Shoot, most houses have several.

And ofcourse, anyone would be different if the TV wasn't a part of their life..... but not for long. You'd have to take away the computer, and the internet as well. It will not be long until the TV is obsolete. Everything will be done on a computer. Take the program SAGE for example. They are paving the way for computer-based houses; you can do everything on these smart machines. Watch TV, TIVO the TV you can't watch, listen to the radio, surf the net, and use it for all other normal home computer-run programs. It's amazing.

So in short, TV has affected everyone, and i honestly don't think you'll find someone who can say otherwise.

sure I'd be different. TV has news (continuing news over the years) from another person's perspective (from which we can get swayed). TV has inuendoes, in some cases low morals, exposes people to what crime and death looks like and it desensitizes people to what they are seeing. On the other hand, a person like myself would take an interest in the new medical advances (I used to work as an HHA and also at one time had elder parents), learn about travel and other countries and other peoples and what's happening in their lives. There are shows that make us laugh and feel good, or feel good about ourselves (psychology). There are destresser shows, and shows that make you at least "think" you could win some money. There are things like global warming, about the environment, about zoos and animals that you'd never have known about. There is church and bible learning and community discussions, and political discussions, and even math homework type training and college courses, and of course movies and other fun things. It even has listed community jobs. TV is a good thing to have for education at every level and has made me grow. TV has also been a warning system as we live in a hurricane area. In addition, it's been good for other people as well (if they too are discriminating about what they watch), and is also helpful for senior citizens or for people who can't leave home and who need information and helpful phone numbers and human contact. If I didn't have tv all these years I'd be quite backward, uninformed, and perhaps introverted. Even though family and friends contact is needed, tv has added another perspective to life.

I found out through TV that there is a more diverse society out there than what a small fishing town in the North East of Scotland had to offer.
I think it was very reassuring to see.
TV and music can bring a lot of comfort.

TV introduced me to the rest of the world. I'm 44 years old, & we didn't have internet when I was a teen, so without TV I'd still be living in an ignorant cocoon.

Alot of the decisions I've made throughout my life have been made because of something I saw or heard on tv (I didn't have good role models as a child / young adult); many of those decisions have been bad ones.

TV has kept me sane over the years.
Without TV I'd be in a insane asylum

I think I'm different from most people because I don't watch television (at all). People start talking about celebrities and sitcoms, even movies, and I'm like, "huh?". I usually haven't the slightest idea as to what they're talking about.

doubtful that it would have any real effect on my life, I mostly watch educational programs, History channel, animal planet, A&E, so pretty much I could find everything in books which is how I pass time if there are repeats on the channels I do watch
