A very general question.

But chances are--- depending on the flue size opening of the furnace, 4 or 5" single wall to no closer than 6" of the ceiling. From there, double wall B Type is required through the ceiling, in the attic area and through the roof at least 12" high.

There is more to this in the code books, but this should get you started.

90% Efficent Furnace you can use PVC Pipe. 80% Efficent you can use 26 Gauge Metal .

B-vent, metal gas venting. unless its a 90%, then pvc as specified.

if it,s a 99% eff, type a plastic pipe will work, if older type use metal,
