Sorry for barging in like this, but guys can do research too. In fact, I've read a lot on this having been married to someone with menstrual problems.

Healthy diet, good weight management, and regular exercise will do wonders for your menstrual cycle.

Poor diet, being overweight, and sedentary life style can wreak havoc on all of the body, including your reproductive system.

Read the following and keep in mind that "staying fit" means keeping your weight down with a healthy diet....

If you have only recently started your period then it will probably be very irregular. It can take up to 2 years for it to settle down and get into a pattern. Also if you are getting bad cramps, when you start your period each month, take a pain killer every four hours, even if you don't have the cramps right then because it will stop them before they have a chance to kick in and get really bad. I also take evening primrose every day, even when i am not on my period. You can buy it off the Internet and i take 1 every day when i am not on my period and 2 when i am. It really helps.
If you have a heavy flow, a banana helps. Eat one every day with your breakfast and your period will be quicker and lighter!
Hope this helps you and if you do still have any worries there are plenty of websites out there with lots of information on them!
Good luck :) xx

if every time you get your period early, it probably means your on a shorter cycle - maybe 3 weeks or even shorter. and unfortunately a lot of people get awful pains, try iboprufen, a cup of tea, and a hot water bottle on your tummy (wrapped in something so it doesn't burn you!) the pressure and warmth really helps. as does getting a bit of exercise, even if you don't feel like it. peacex

Severe cramping needs to be evaluated by a doctor to see what they think could be causing this.
