If you are suffering from social phobia the doctor can prescribe medicine for that. They are generally SSRIs.
If you are really shy, check out the symptoms for social anxiety and social phobia. You may be surprised. You asked for medications or a cure right? I don't know of a cure , but some people find these medication helpful.
Your family doctor should be able to give you a prescription for these. Unless you are a severe case , no psychologist is needed.

I STRONGLY recommend taking a class called The Forum presented by Landmark Education, which should have a branch office in every major city in the US, or most of 'em. It will blow your low self confidence/low self-esteem out of the water and truly assist you in having the life of your dreams! Please make a promise to yourself to do the following: 1) Attend the first part of The Forum, and no matter how you feel, what you think, or what you observe occurring w/ other people around you, stay to the end and complete this! 2) Strongly look at doing Parts II and III as well.

Yoga is an amazing confidence booster ..start slow, with a dvd or something, then when you feel more comfortable join
a class, yoga needs no explanation of how it works once you are practicing it regularly.. you will have the confidence to go
with all the ebbs and flows. Yoga boosted my confidence, &
improved my health and well being from being unable to do anything to just living in the moment. heres a place that has
