Any supposedly good Religion is not meant for this purpose!

So why do they still do it knowing it is a, natural human deterent.

What are they hoping to acheive with this sort of suppression?

Control and power.

Interesting but almost insulting question.

The answer is simple.

A religion is based on the believe that it comes from a higher power and in most cases the only higher power. So if you disagree with that being the higher power or what that power says for you to do then you must be an enemy either to be killed or converted.

The reason why your question is insulting is that in insinuates that no such higher power exists, and that religion is the product of man, that man can change it as man sees fit.

Religion wants to establish order in the name of a deity and that deity is beyond question. So if you feel suppressed it is because you are not the deity.

It is that simple. The deity makes the rules you must follow.

Most religions do not revolve around anger. Most religions are built upon common principles meant for the common good. They rely on a "higher" power such as God for their moral structure and values. It's the interpretation of flawed human beings which starts and continues anger and fear.

It is not only religions.

It is also ideologies. Just look at the Nazi party in 1930`s germany.
Also, some environmentalists apply similar techniques.

As to the goal. I think there are many.
- Creating an (artificial) separation between "them and us"
- Keeping populace under control (power issues).
- Wanting to shape (part of) society according to their views (also a power issue, but slightly subtler than mere "control of masses imho).

It would appear that wanting to control others, or your surroundings, is something present in many humans.
It can be simple and innocent, like shaping your own backyard - or something scary and evil, like the Nazi party in Germany.

I do think that, in essence, a religion as such is not revolving around anger, but that it is the people (or the leaders) that twist the various holy texts to their goals.

I think that most religions became a meeting place for those people that thought differently about the interpretations of the word of the bible, the feelings of the people were catagorized into different religions, the bible says believeth in me and you shall have everlasting life, it doesnt say believe in this particular religion and me.
fear is to the fear is the way of making you feel bad about what your sins are and to keep you coming back as the tithing is important to the churches survival and fellowship to your beliefs

Your premise is wrong. I know of no religion that fits your definition. Certainly, PEOPLE have twisted the meanings of every holy book to justify darned near anything. That isn't the religion- It's PEOPLE turning a religion into something else. Your very question is contradictory. At it's base, a religion is a belief in a God- whatever that power is called. Obviously a God isn't shooting US troops in Iraq. Or killing Tutsis in Africa. It's people. Sadly, we humans do the dammedest things.

Mostly fear is away to control and keep people in order. Most religions say if you do bad things bad things would happen so if you fear to be tormented you may to what is right. Most religions are mostly to keep people in order and do what is right but in some religions they may add a bit more rules than other that made it seem just unfair.

If a religion revolves around anger. This is a sign of a false religion. Only a religion where is taught "to love your neighbour " can be the right religion,
Despite race, colour, or financial status.

My thought is.....are holy books... they can be interpet in many different ways that we all might not agree on... for example some people have come up with all types of ways to justify there actions mostly hate from the bible, slavery being one well should I say hate towards other races beside your own ironic isn't it? when one person can see nothing but love and another the complete opposite.

Do you know how a momma bear will kill you for getting near her cub? She'll tear you to shreds because she is PROTECTING her young from what she perceives as a "threatening" force/enemy. People tend to get very PROTECTIVE over religion as well. Anyone who doesn't agree is "threatening" to them.
It's very hard to get someone with that kind of mind-set to understand why it is wrong to do what they are doing. They are usually taught in these religions that they will have a "great reward" for the wrong that they do.

Religions are belief systems run by people who want you to believe in that belief system too. It is an extension of control by insecure people who want everything to be their way. They cannot deal with the idea that others have differant ideas.
