My point Beans is why is this case so out of proportion.

Beans, I don't keep going on about it. Find another question on the subject I have posted. People keep going on about it because it is all over the media.

This happens with some cases, the people involved have little control as to whether it appears in the media or not. Like the Stephen Laurence case that was on the news everyday for 10 years, when world wide tens of thousands of people would have died from racism. Infact in England a white man was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack the same day as SL by a black man. I think it is some type of social control at work personally. I think in a few years they want people to start micro chipping there children, so a few blown up cases help create enough fear for people to agree.

I guess a lot went missing even though we didn't hear about them.

If your child went missing. Wouldn't you move heaven and earth to find them. I don't think it has anything to do with knowing influential people. I think it has to do with perseverance and pushing and pushing until something is done.
Maybe their families don't want to be treated the way the McCann's have. After all, they are not getting a lot of respect for keeping there little girl in the headlines. Are they?
Some of the posts I have seen would put ANYONE off from the publicity.

World-wide, likely a lot during the 4 months since Maddie's disappearance. It's unfortunate.

I was in Munich a couple of weeks a go and there is a little German girl missing and that is on the German news each day. While people are maybe wondering why the McCanns are suing the paper it is keeping their child as a main news focus.

hundreds of children vanish every day. my cousin duane fochtman disappeared in 1986. have you ever heard of him? no, because our family is not influental. there has never been any information on his disappearance because no body in a place of authority has ever put in the effort to find him.

Way too many, i'm sad to say.
Wish their parents too had the courage & support to create & spread media awareness about them the way the McCanns have.
