I had not owned a diamond until my husband proposed to me. At the time, I thought the one carat was rather oversized and ostenatious, as I'm not a flashy person or a jewelry person. (That was the first time I started to really wear jewelry.) I also knew that the ring was rather expensive and not worth the money. (I'm cheap and refuse to spend any more money than necessary.) However, I got used to it and I like it for the symbolism.

I had some jewelry cleaner, but somehow it dried up and I sent the canister to recycling heaven. Now, I just suds my rings (engagement and marriage) when I wash my hands. (I wash by wetting my hands, adding soap, add some water to suds the soap, turn the water off and rub for at least 30 seconds.) It seems to work fine, though I'm not surprised with the white vinegar answer. I use white vinegar for everything else for cleaning in my home, so why not my diamond?

Just let them soak in your washing up liquid and hot water, and then take an old toothbrush and scrub gently underneath and around the sides and top. Then dry them with a cloth.

Anything gold will come up great and so will diamonds. Don't use any kind of silver polish on them.

Have a small pan filled with water, add a little bit of dish washing liquid and bring it to boil. Let it boil for some minuets and then wash them with mild water and maybe a brush. Believe it or not it's the best way for anything that you can imagine. Even on silver!

I'm in agreement with Angel. I've always used a soft toothbrush and toothpaste.
