No offence but spelling it like that, the poor kid's going to go through life spelling her first name to people and getting written down as "Caitlin" instead of "Katelynn". It is a nice name, though; it's just a horrible spelling.

Katelynn is a pretty name, but it's pretty overused. I know about 7 girls with the same name.

Hi,
Yes I think Katelynn is a nice name! My friend is called that too but spells it Caitlin which I think is a nicer spelling. You can also spell it Katelyn, Kaitlynn or Kaitlyn, Kaitlin or Katalin.
My friend gets called Cait a lot now though! - she is 19.
Wishing your sister luck!

Caitlin is a beautiful Gaelic name and it should stay that way. The trend with changing the name to how it is read started and should have stayed in Chavland. The only way she could make it sound more trashy is by making it double barrelled. ie Katelynn-Anne Yuk!

As a Caitlin, I obviously think it's a damn fine name. The multiple spellings are a pain in the *** though. In all my 18 years I've never had a single person spell my name right without my having to correct them at least twice. Tell your sister to think about that and stick to one of the standard spellings -- Caitlin or Kaitlyn.

It's a very common name that to me still sounds like a child-forever name. I mean, at this point I have a hard time picturing a Dr. Katelyn Smith, etc. But that's probably because its popularity is fairly recent.
I'd say leave off the second n, it will only cause problems. Katelyn with this spelling makes the most sense to me, especially if you're going to use the nn Katie. I don't like when people spell it Kaitlyn and use Katie... seems like they should be using Kaitie or Kaity or something.

At a glance I didn't even know what 'Katelynn' said - but once I looked again and realised I think it is a lovely name.
But hey, I'm hoping for boys to give them names such as Oliver (not Ollie) Joshua (not Josh), Norman and for a girl, Olivia... my friends think I'm nuts...
