You're right, which is why I don't. I don't say "PIN number," either. But a lot of people do. You know what's worse? The satellite TV company here advertises "MLB Baseball." Major League Baseball baseball? That's just silly.

ATM machine is a short words for Automated Teller Machine Machine.....easy to say.

I always just ask if people have an 'ATM.' I have never put machine at the end of it. You are right, it is redundant.

Most of them beleive that ATM stands for "ALL TIME MONEY".....so they call it ATM Machine.....
