So the passages are clearly your weakness.

1. Try marking up the passages (underline, circle and cross items out) when you read them so that you save time instead of re-reading
2. Take notes while reading so that when you answer questions your gut reactions are clear
3. Read the questions prior to reading the passages so you know what to look for and will keep key points in mind thta will help you when it's time to pick answers
4. Put yourself in the mind of the writer (both the passage writer AND the SAT question writer)

What really helped me for the critical reading was the tutorfox new sat guide. When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from TutorFox: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
