When I was a teenager, I read a paperback book about child abuse (or at least I think that I read it). It was about a young girl that ran away from home and was taken in by an abusive family. They would tie her to the bed and spray her off outside when she wet the bed. On the cover of the book, there was a picture of a doll with a large hole in her head! The details of the book are too vivid to have come from a dream, but I can't find the book or remember the title to save my life. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I doubt if it was just a dream. Something like that is very hard to search for. How long ago were you a teenager? That way, maybe you could figure out approximately what year the book was written. Can you remember the names of any characters? I tried doing a general search on Amazon.com for books about child abuse, and didn't really come up with anything, except this one book which has a very creepy doll on the front. I doubt if this is it though.

There is a book by Jack Ketchum called The Girl Next Door that is vaguely similar.. but I don't know what the cover looked like.. A girl and her sister move in with her "aunt" after their parents die.. and the experience is REALLY bad, and told from the point of veiw of a neighborhood boy.. it was based on a real case.. I seem to recall a part where the other sister (who is mentally slow, and not dealing with the move well) wets the bed and is punished.. but don't remember the specifics there is a movie coming out based on the book as well.. I guess you could watch the trailer and see if it seems familiar.. (if it's the right book you'll remember it..)

I havn't heard of a book with that plot. However there is an internet ad with a picture of a doll with a hole in her head. It's on heaps of websites but I saw it on www.dafont.com. You may have dreamt of the plot and somehow connected it with the picture.
