I am looking to buy a vaccum cleaner, barrel type with HEPA filter suitable for bamboo flooring and can only spend up to A$250.- There's no carpet in the house but I have a black long haired dog who sheds a lot of hair. I have to sweep at least once a day. Any suggestions, make, type, model etc..
Thank you.

The Bissel bagless cavuum metioned above is a piece if crap and the worst vacum I have EVER owned.

A few years ago my mother in law gave me a second hand Dyson. I had a border collie, 2 cats, and a rabbit all indoors. Not that you would know it, the Dyson worked so well.

I wanted to test the Dyson, so I used my regular vacuum throuroughly- then I went over it with the Dyson. I was amazed at the pet hair my regular vacuum left behind.

I recenlty moved to another country- and had to purchase a new vacum. I bought the Bisel and thought it a medium quality. I saved up my pennies and bought a bran new Dyson at Walamrt $378. I know, it is alot of money. But the vacuum will last a lifetime, and never loses suction. It has washable filters, too. I repeated the test between the Bisel and the Dyson- and the Bisel left behing so much dust and hair and dirt I was amazed I never noticed it!

I have hard wood floors and some carpet. They Dyson has a feature for hard wood floors- that turns the brush off so hairs dont fly every where. It gets all the hair and dirt off my wood and tiles floors.

If you can afford it at all- I had to save up- the Dyson is the best vacuum out there.

I am a professional homemaker.

I have a hoover savvy and I LOVE it ! It's got carpet/bare floor settings.. Stair, upolstrey attachements and it's bagless.. It has a couple filters as well... I've had it for almost 5 yrs.. It cost roughtly $200 but that was a few yrs. ago.. HOWEVER ! I did buy the extended service warranty for the additional 3 yrs. of coverage it was around $100.. Which I'm glad I did so.. I did have a couple problems with the vacuum "clogging" up.. It turned out that the main filter had to be replaced about, every 2 yrs. and it cost around $30-$40. So, I took it in and I got a whole clean/check on the vacuum as well ! I also have a long haired dog that sheds. I actually brush her out and vacuum her once a month !
Also, you might want to consider getting a wet/dry shop vac. you can get a really, really nice one with attachements and a blower feature for your yard for about $100.. The suction is higher than any other vacuum you'll see in your price range and you can use it on furniture/flooring etc... It's also good for wet spills as well.. When my vacuum was getting serviced I found the shop vac to be a great alternative ! Especially good on wood floors.... Good luck

Even though you only have up to $250.00 to spend, you can still buy a Dyson. You'll just have to get a factory serviced one. They come with the same warranty as anew one. The Animal is probably the best for you since you have a long haired dog. There are also a lot of reviews on the Dyson on the net. Just Google it. If you go to Heartland America's web site they have refurbished Dysons, Orecks, and Infinity vacuums all of which have happy customers.God bless!!

Walmart, Bissell cannister, $45.00. These really suck.
