Hi, I am looking into taking up a out of work hobby which will also allow me to meet new people. I live in the Lewisham area but, I am willing to travel within reason. I wanted to hear from people and get some suggestions?

THANKS!

I had to check the answers, before I did. Quilting Bees are dying off ( from what I've heard ) Get a group of women together to stitch and converse together on a certain night. At the end, when you have finished hand quilting the quilt, raffle it off for a worthy charity. You can be doing something creative, meeting new friends, learning a a skill. I call that creative " women talk time ".You may think of this idea as old fashioned, but I think of it would be very relaxing time, girl talk time with a spectacular end result. I wish there was one in my area I could join.

I was the same when i moved to a new area two years ago. A sport is probley your best option cause if you're nervous of meeting new people you automatically begin working as a team. I started Kickboxing and became addicted!! Lovely people, good exercise. Nothing bonds two people together like kicking the tar out of eachother : )

Model Railroading, Community Theater are my favorites...

Not sure where Lewisham is... guessing it's the UK... so here is a link to the UK Model Railroaders Association:

Model RR clubs are fun... you can visit, meet folks, and decide if you LIKE the hobby with little outlay of cash.

Why don't you call your local college and ask for a list of night classes available. Mine do everything from Photography to Belly Dancing so I'm sure there will be something that appeals to you.
