I just took a glance, nearly fell asleep by boredom. Usual banter and diatribe. Nothin' new. What can we expect from ...(Felicity has the proper term for them, but somehow I can't quite say it with the same effect, but it ends with "antecedents").

It's obvious that the author is one of an Oriental descent, i.e. Chinese, Japanese, Koreans. I suspect that this person has a past conflict with a Filipino and decided to vent his anger on the whole society. I'm a Filipino and proud of it, I don' t have any burning desire to associate myself with any other culture except my own. We were colonized by Spain for 300 years and subsequently by the Americans for another 40 years or so. The Filipino culture is a product of that long subjugation. But that's all behind us now, we're stuck with what we got, We're hopefully looking for a brighter future for our country and it's hard-working people. We're enduring all the growing pains of a young country, but we control our own destiny and I have all the confidence in the world that someday, we'll get there.

Wow! my reaction is that i understand English and not Cebuano.... or Ilocano?
Oh! just got to read the other article. Sounds like it was written by Filamusa.
While I do not agree with most of what was written, it is a fact that school kids love to mix caps and lower case, just as much as shortcuts in grammar.
The same way, (I am now speaking of my wife, but it applies to 80% of people), when in Europe I can show her a castle or armor in a museum and tell her "honey, that's over 1000 years old" or that such and such a picture was painted by a famous person (I have the good fortune of having one. but she'd rather hang it in the bathroom)... she has no concept of culture; and it hurts. But I still love her.

you know his wife is filipina and it's not true. but whoever the author is very evil!
The Philippine Daily Inquirer printed a letter found on a web page purportedly from Bell that made derogatory statements about Filipinos. This letter was subsequently demonstrated to be a hoax perpetrated upon Bell, who in fact had a publicly loving relationship with his Filipina wife and his previous wife Ramona who was also Filipina, and who often spoke openly about his admiration for the Filipino people on his radio show. Subsequently, the Philippine Daily Inquirer printed a retraction and apologized for printing the statement upon their verification of the hoax. This fraudulent act upon Bell still periodically results in serious threats to Bell when this material surfaces from time to time.

I was at rage! Simply because I don't agree with his statements. He argues that Filipinos should NOT associate themselves with Asians because of the nasty things he found in chatroom. Hey, never generalize. Filipinos dont live in chatrooms, nor behave the way those people speak. The fact that a very negligible fraction of the Filipino population engage themselves in internet chat does not necessarily mean that ALL are like that! Come to think of it, some people of other nationality behave that way, too, or even worse. For me, the statements are foul and very discriminating.
And how come he gets a record of those nasty conversations? He even seems to know the background of those people, whom he claims to be Filipinos, but with absence of proof. Doesn't that only mean he also takes part in the dirty chats?
Filipinos are generally good-natured people with a distinct culture and behavior. They are good and skilled workers. They stand out and excel in their craft. Even people from other nations can attest to that.
Now, if he believes otherwise, its his problem, not ours.

You are right. It's both discriminating and deals with reality. But to whoever wrote that, Filipinos have a contributed a lot not just to the Philippines but to other countries as well but we are not being recognize for our own talent. Filipinos are not the only ones who are obsessed with Japanese cars, most Americans and Europeans tend to obsess with them too. Do not blame Filipinos for their fast adaptation of their surroundings and do not say negative things about us especially if you haven't met one of us.

Good thing I'm not like this... not a Filipino American...
i think this is very true and not discriminating at all, I've heard most Fil-Am's don't even like to speak Tagalog. Even Apple of Black Eyed Peas was discriminated by his Fil-Am schoolmates because he could not speak English. that's why he became friends with BEP. Filipinos in America does not seem Asian to me i see them embrace the black culture with the black accent. (cheap huh) and when they come here they think like there someone else to be respected because the came from a first world country.
*note
I'm not generalizing here it's just that most of them are like this just observe the accent. if you talk black you are not educated by English.
this is for Fil-Am's i hope you know what i mean (OFW's are not Fil-Am's).

honestly, i think that person has had bad experiences with pinoys or has some rly bad issues or is a hateful person.
i mean, we're all individuals n it's not like our race determines our personality? i think it's just wrong to label someone like that n to stereotype them into something so untrue, just because it's true for other people.
you shouldn't read much into that sht. that guy has no clue what he's talking about, n maybe the whole chinese/japanese/korean thing might be true, i think he's TERRIBLY WRONG about saying how low they are. we're struggling enough as it is and ffs, who does he think he is to make us feel lower?
he shud seriously consider people as an individual and stop picking on races n just be humble with the world around him. they have nothing to do with him after all.

ano ba yan! the author is really discriminating filipinos .. i would really like to say that if he really likes discriminating filipinos just ban vanessa hudgens, nicole sherzinger, cassie, jasmine trias and other filipinos in hollywood! or just forget the person who invented the moon buggy. (no offense for other people) because they are filipino.. even though they only have small amount of filipino blood on their body, they're still filipino and you can't change that. and for the chat in IRC.. please.. filipinos are not the only one rude.. some people from other countries too. like the cybersex and other illegal things, filipino girls will not engaged in these things if there will not be other people who wants to look at them naked or sleep with them..

well I just felt sad that I have to read that but that was July of 2001 and that was years ago, althought there were some kind of truth to that article years ago,but I don't think that is true now a days, many Filipinos abroad are now proud to be what they are and if there are still pinoys who doesn't acknowledge their roots then so be it..it is their opinion and their feelings,it won't be our loss and they are just living a lie
