Hi guys.
I had my pc for about a year-working fine till now. (its an Asus motherboaRD,AMD 64 3200+,2x512 ram ddr). I was watchign a film on it last nite, was working fine. This morning switched it on as normal to check e-mail etc.
It bootted up fine, but then before it went to the windows logging screen it powered off. Clicking on the power button didnt work. to switch it back on again, i had to remove it from the mains and connect it again. Switched it back on and again it powered off at the same point.
I havent had the time yet to do any troubleshooting as i had to go to work, but i tried to log-in via safe mode, i log in normally and as soon as it tries to load window's it powers of again (no blue screen no nothing, just switches off and cant' switch it on until i remove it from the mains and reconnect it). i checked the CPU fan seems to be working fine.
I've heard some stuff on dodgy MOBO capacitors, but havent checked... any ideas anyone had something similar happen?

OS could be damaged. If Win XP, try this repair procedure which is like a fresh install but leaves ALL files intact:

Afterwards, go to SAFE mode and do a virus scan, preferably twice w/ different anti-virus.

At this point it is most likely an issue with the power supply. Before you can do anything else you must replace the power supply unit or PSU from your machine and install a new one. If you have a name brand computer eg. Dell Gateway, HP, Apple. You will need to call the customer service number for them because 90% of the time it is a propiatary PSU and you need to mut the same model in. If that is the case you can search Google for Power Supplies for your model computer. If it is a custom computer or one that sombody build for you at a local computer shop you should be able to replace it with an off the shelf pwoer suppy. Keep in mind as you add internal devices such as more RAM or more drives you need more power. So if it is not a name brand pc try to buy a pwoer supply with a watt rating about 20% more than you have now eg. if you have a 300 watt PSU now get a 360 watts give or take 10 or 15 watts in eiather direction.

I thing problem is present in your power supply which did not gives the power contineously to all the components of your PC.
Check its all the wires for power. Make sure u give 220v for it and your power supply working properly.
After it check your system for virus. Or simply scan it with a good antivirus software.
OR
A virus (at this time i not remember the virus name) it attack on your computer. Please go in the shop of computer for maintaing it. fastly, otherwise u can find that its many components are crupped. don't try to switch on it.
