Several weeks ago it was found that Australian Opposition leader Kevin Rudd went to the strip club in 2003(spending tax payers money!). People are saying that is shows that he is only human and more in touch with the general public. If John Howard was found to have done this, there most likely would have been some sort of parliamentary enquiry and he probably would have lost the job.

This is the same with the Andrew Johns thing. He is still seen as some sort of a hero. If he was a “lower” player he would probably be fired.

What do others think?

i think that if John Howard done this that he would get question after question on why he did this. And i agree with you that he would lose his job.

I think if it came out that Howard had gone to a strip club one night when he was drunk everybody would have either laughed themselves silly or felt sick!! I certainly do not think he would have lost his job (I wish!!) Smutty little sex scandals have never really been a big deal in Australia (except if it is something really disgusting and/or illegal of course).

I think the drugs thing is more serious. It is clear now that recreational drug use is quite commonly accepted in professional football and is covered up by the clubs, who I think need to answer some serious questions. Pro footballers like Jones and others from every code are treated like gods but the pressure they are put under must be very daunting too. Many of them cannot handle the lifestyle. Something has to change and I think the clubs have to really look at how they treat their players and how this problem can be addressed at all levels of the game.

Crap, did you know former PM Bob Hawke was drunken union boss who also cheated on his wife.......did that stop him being PM, I dont think so. Do a bit of research on former PMs and see what kind of crap you can find that no one really gives a sh!t about.
Most Aussies dont care about what Rudd did in his private life as long as it was legal whats the big deal, he when to a legitimate business and recieved their services.......so what!!!
As for losing his job, lets all hope Howard loses his job in a couple of months for the good of regular aussies lives.

Oh and as for Andrew Johns thing, well he is a d!ck isn't he, and anyone else who uses illicit drugs are in the same category.

Go Kevin07
Howard sucks

I don't know Kevin Rudd. But generally speaking, when a peace lover is found in such clubs, it shows he/she is a human being (make love-not war). But when a war monger is found there, then... Let's say, as an understatement, that it is very strange.
