It depends on what you buy. I avoid anything with wood veneer or that's made out of glued-together sawdust.

IKEA furniture is cheap but doesn't look cheap until you get close up. So far nothing I have bought from IKEA has broken.

Anything from anywhere can look cheap.
Ikea is an okay place to shop at. They have their pluses and their minuses. ONE PLUS is that they usually have reasonable prices. ONE MINUS is that sometimes the things you buy there can look cheap or are just plain cheap cause they break easily.
You have to know what to choose. If something cries out cheap then don't buy it if that's what you don't want. But, many things there are also a steal. So, just be picky and if you don't need something, don't buy it. LOL.
Well, hope this helped.
:)

ikea furniture is made like high street fashion clothes, they are meant to last a season and be thrown away, its cheap, easy and convenient.
like clothes, you are better having key pieces that are better quality and timlessly classic, and use accesories, from places like ikea to change the look every so often

I like IKEA furniture and don't think it looks cheap. If you don't like Scandinavian or modern your not going to like IKEA.

I don't think it LOOKS cheap, but the quality is. I got dressers from there a few years ago, and they're literally falling apart! One of my bottom drawers are now non-existent. I'm blaming it on myself though cause I'm in denial. I love the way most of their furniture looks, but I'm telling myself that I put my dressers together wrong.
