I wish to use two monitors with my computer (windows), I only have one monitor port. Do I need another video card with two monitor outputs or would an additional video card with one output work?

The simplest configuration is video card with two monitor driver/outputs. You can use 2 video cards but it is a bit more complicated and a special software driver is needed. Places like Best-Buy and CompUSA will have the info you need for either configuration.

Either way will work.

Unless you have a spare video card that will go in a free slot on your computer, I would recommend the dual head card.

Takes up less slots.
If you are going to buy a new card then the premium for dual head is minimal, if not zero.
Removes any potential for different video drivers having conflicts (Windows Vista only supports multiple cards with the same family of video chipset)
If you only have one PCIe-16 or AGP slot then you get full video bandwidth on both screens.

Note, if you have on-board video, adding a AGP or PCI-e video card will usually disable the on-board video, so on-board + a single head AGP card will not work.

I disagree with the guy above. just grab another video card and plug in the second monitor to it. its very simple for xp and above.

you'll need a videocard that has 2 ports. after installing, try enabling under display setting of control panel, tick the settings tab, right click the #2monitor and click Attach!
