Are you saying that moisture (water) came from the stone? If so, that is very common, a lot of types of stone are porous and if they have been out in the weather or in a river etc, they will absorb some water. You could take the stone and soak in water several days, dry the outer surface, and weigh it; then let it sit somewhere warm & dry, re-weigh it each day and you can study how fast it loses the water. You could compare with several different types of stones.

What you have is probably Pumice, which is not a stone, but a variety of lava.Pumice is sponge-like and absorbs water, and is used for polishing.Pumice is not uncommon, and is found in areas where no known volcanos existed.I have found pumice in areas of the mid west of the U.S.,and as far as I know, there is no real significance except for the fact that they absorb water, and can retain it for a long time. They are quite common.
