16 = 4 ²
243 = 3^5
The log of a number to a given base is the power to which the base must be raised in order to give the number.
In above cases:-
base is 4
number is 16
power is 2
Thus 4² = 16
log 4 of 16 = 2

base is 3
number is 243
power is 5
Thus
3^5 = 243
log 3 of 243 = 5

What it means is that you have to make the number, for
example, 16, using the number 4 as your base. A base number tells what number is being multiplied . An exponent is a small number written above and to the right of the base number telling you how many times the base number is being
multiplied. So in this case, your base number would be 4. That is the number being multiplied. So what you have to figure out is which number to multiply four by in order to get sixteen. (Just divide 16 by four. For me, it's easiest to divide the number you're trying to get to by the base.) Your answer is four so write down 4^2 (four the the fourth power.)
The next one is a little bit tougher. But it's done the same way. Your answer is 3^81.
