Weather is the temporary state that exists in whatever small timeframe you choose to analyze. Climate is the larger pattern within a region over a long period of time.
For example, the Pacific Northwest generally has a mild climate (a pattern of warmer-than-average winters and cooler-than-average summers), but it can still have hot or cold weather on any given day.
That's why global warming, if it exists, is so significant -- it triggers a *climate* shift, something long-term that isn't going to change back after a few weeks or months.

'Weather' deals with local and current weather conditions. 'Climate' deals with average weather conditions over time. For instance, the 'climate' of the Sahara Desert is very hot and dry, but the 'weather' at a particular place in the Sahara on a particular date might be cloudy with some rain falling.
