There are hundreds of things that can trip a check engine light. People who say its this or that have no idea what it is. The best thing to do is take it to an auto parts store and ask them to scan it. now depending on what the code is and what the problem is it could very specific, such as an o2 sensor or cylinder mis-fire or very vague like evap control. You never what to guess and just start replacing parts, check engine lights are there to let you know something isn't right and needs looking into.

Go to a good auto parts store and have them check your car with a scanner. It could be as simple as a loose gas or oil cap, or a vacuum hose disconnected.

Most cars today have a built in mileage sensor. When the car goes a certain amount of miles, it trips a sensor that tells you to service the engine automatically. Look in your owners manual.

The service engine comes on when the exhaust emissions are out of perimeters. This could be caused from many different reasons.(vacuum hose, spark plug fouling, dirty injector, loose wire...)
Have the computer codes checked to find out what area needs checked

Maybe you need air in your tires? Or you left the gas cap open? Or the injectors are dirty?

There are way too many things it could be. And it could be nothing at all. Dust on the computer contacts.

Go to the expensive dealer service people.

Take it to the local auto store and they will scan the computer in your car with an OBDII code reader, they will tell you what the codes are and what needs to be replaced.... is is usually a sensor.... dont worry..... shouldn't be anything too serious.
