Sending emails OUT from a machine is usually easy and pre-installed. Its receiving thats a headache since it involves setting up your machine to continually watch for incoming contacts.

You didnt mention which linux you have. You might try typing in some of the common mail programs and see if you get a menu.
A) elm
B) pine
C) mutt
D) mail
In xwindows or gnome or kde then you might try xfmail or kmail.

I would try them in that order. If any work then do a google for some sites telling you how to use it.

If you have the option of using postfix it is easier to configure. Set it up to use the same server settings as your email client. If you want messages from logging you can simply set up a .forward file in your home account and set the root alias to your own user name. This will simply forward the messages.

Do you have Webmin installed in your Linux box? If not, then install it first then I get back to you.
