All the news articles I've read say the guy tapped his toe and waved his hand
I know it's supposed to be a gesture for lewd activity, but it's nothing concrete to suggest illegal activity.

So what exactly did he do that was illegal?

vistazan: I know what he wanted, you know hwat he wanted. Doesn't make it illegal as he didn't do anything.
If tapping your feet and waving your hand is illegal, then I'm just going to have to give up my tap class

Craig did everything necessary to commit a lewd act. A lewd act is a crime. www.lawcrawler.com Look up the laws for his state and you can read it for your self. You want to read the legal definition of LEWD Act and find the specific code associated with the charge.

Craig not only committed the act of solicitation, but he plead guilty. He did not plead NOT GUILTY, he did not plead NO CONTEST, he pled GUILTY. OPEN and SHUT.

So, just why do you think that he FAILED to tell his wife about his actions? His family, his political party? HE PLED GUILTY. Now, he is trying to save his @#$%. This is one in a long line of acts of misconduct dating back to the earl;y 1980's when he is suspected of sex crimes with a Senate page, a boy under 18 years of age.

Craig's guilty plea gives credibility to the former Senate page's claim of sexual assault. Now, the FBI can go back and revisit the earlier claims. This isn't the first time, second time or third time the guy has been accused of homosexuality.

It seems he actually moved his foot into the next stall and bumped the foot of the guy next to him (police officer). He isn't admitting whatever may have been done with his hand - the officer says he reached into the neighboring stall. But the most important point is that he plead guilty to a mis-demeanor.

Although his behavior sounds somewhat subtle if a little weird to those of us who aren't schooled in the subtleties of soliticing sex in a public restroom, he must have believed that he was caught red-handed soliciting sex. The evidence for that is his guilty plea.

And the wording in the plea includes a certification that he IS guilty and is not just pleading guilty to resolve the issue. Of course, now he begs us (and his wife) to believe that he was just trying to quietly resolve the issue.

Awww puhhhleeeze! The gestures were widely known at least in that area and police had enough evidence on it's goings-on to catch a few trying to do it.
And above all, it was a PUBLIC restroom...meaning not only adults used those facilities, but children too.
Being straight, gay or lesbian does not justify involving yourself in sex acts in a public place.
Some people may make more of it because it was of homosexual nature, but I wouldn't want myself or my kids seeing anyone male, female or alone- engaging in sex acts in public.

Dont play dumb here. You know what he was doing. He knows what he was out doing. Its no different than had he approached a undercover cop trying to buy drugs or other illegal activity. He was out looking for sex in public restrooms. He pled guilty. He admitted it. Now that everyone knows, hes changing his story.

What was illegal was that he was accused of soliciting sex in a public bathroom and that at least in Minnesota is illegal. What he ended up being convicted of was the result of a plea bargin.

The key word is "public" as in "public sex". If he were at home with a guy, no one would arrest him.

he's in politics and subject to calumny.
the "copper" set him up. He's just being humiliated enough to get pushed into resigning. someone in power wants his elected office.nothing illegal unless the "copper" want to press charges for "something" (you pick).
