Please help. Today I was jogging at around 8:15pm anyway i'm on a corner when I look down the street and there is this car stopped in the middle of the road. I think it is strange that it won't move but I just thought it was a an old person. So I start running and soon I pass this car. Well when i get to the end of the street I turn back and the car starts to go and parks on the curb. Well I start walking that way when a cop car comes behind me and tells me stop. Well they start talking to me and tell me to sit down. By the way i'm 16. Anyways they give me all usaul cop talk. Then they ask me what Tag Crew im with. They are accusing me of graffiti. Anyways I give them my info and they say I can go free if I just tell them who did it. I was alone so i don't know. Anyway they dont believe me and keep saying they no i did it. They have no evidence, no spraypaint on my hands, just the cops word i did it. Do you think i will get convicted. I dont want it on my permenent record.

Is that your regular routine and do you have witnesses that can testify that you run that route frequently?

Based on your story, there is no way you could be convicted.

Did you actually get arrested? If so they MUST provide you with a lawyer if you can't afford your own. These lawyers are not the best, so you must prod them to do their jobs.

If you did not actually get arrested, then I am doubting you have anything to worry about. You must be served (in person) a subpoena to appear in court (or physically arrested by warrant issued by the court) if they decide to pursue the case. If none of this happens in the next week or so, then I would forget the matter.

If you didn't do it, then NEVER admit you did.

Some police agencies use that tactic to get confessions (repeatedly telling you they know you did it, in hopes that you'll eventually say it). When you go to court, tell them you didn't do it. Show how there is no evidence that you did and explain again how you are innocent until proven guilty (sometimes "blind justice" forgets this fact).

Hope this helps.

The evidence sounds a little suss. Got any good character references?

Unless they manufacture evidence, there is no way they can convict you.... No eye-witness, no evidence... However, do you have a prior record of this sort, they may use this and you may be in trouble..
