what would you think of a HIGH SCHOOL teacher who encouraged one of her 16 year old students to quit?

Not much; however there may be more to this than meets the eye. Are you that student?
I'm afraid if I were this person's parent, I'd have to go see her & find out what the problem was. And then, I'd go see the principal. And if I wasn't satisfied, I'd go to the school board to see if I could get satisfaction there. I backed my kids up 100%, as long as they were in the right.
Do the parent know that this has happened?

This happens a lot, I really think the teacher thinks the student is wasting everybodies time. If the student isn't applying them self to the school work or not doing it at all why are they there? I think it's a personal matter between the student and the teacher and the teacher doesn't like the student. I know it's not right, teachers should encourage an education. The students parents should complain to the school board.

I would think that she/he dos not take their job/education seriously unless of course she/he plans on home schooling them which I seriously doubt.
