It can be the single most important factor in bringing the various religious factions together in Iraq. Whatever their differences might be on religion, they are Arabs and the Iranians are Persians. It's the last nation the Iraqis look to for help in a post-Ba'athist world. They don't want to replace a pretender to the lineage of the Prophet (Saddam Hussein) with a little fellow who thinks he's the modern day incarnation of Cyrus the Great or Xerxes.

Well, can they make a bigger mess than the allied forces have! Seems there's not much left of Iraq anyway! At least theIranians have a similar cultural background even though they haven't exactly been the best of friends!

Doesn't this seem strange as they have been the bitterest of enemies, what would they gain, oil? , quite frankly i find the whole of the the situation in the middle east quite baffling, i say let's get our troops out and leave them all to it.
