LSU didn't exactly set the world on fire early on against Miss St. They will have their hands full with an inspired Va Tech squad next saturday down at the Red Stick.
USC (in my humble opinion) only has three games that they could possibly lose: Cal, Nebraska, Oregon.

They probably won't lose to anyone until they get to the National Championship game; but if they lose to anyone I would say UCLA or Nebraska. Both teams have enough defense to where if USC comes out and makes some big mistakes they can hold on for a win.
Cal has enough offensive fire power to hang; but with USC's defense and their offense it should be too much for the Bears; because I don't think Cal has the defense to shut USC down.
LSU may be able to beat USC. Michigan may be able to beat USC. Wisconsin might be able to beat them. Other than that I think USC can beat anyone else.

I don't think Caroll is very afraid of LSU (or any team for that matter). He's got way too much talent on his team to worry much. They will be the favorite to win in every game they play this year. I think they'll be able to beat Cal, Nebraska, and UCLA. I'd be more worried about overconfidence before they play a lesser opponent (Arizona for instance), who might suprise them like Oregon State did last year. Also, even though Notre Dame shouldn't be too great this year, I'm sure they will be gunning like hell for the Trojans in South Bend. When you're the #1 team in the country, everyone plays their best to beat you, because it can redeem an otherwise lackluster season. USC's only enemy will probably be it's own arrogance or overconfidence.

LOL humiliated by LSU? Hmm...Jamarcus Russell is gone, Dwayne Bowe is gone, Craig Davis is gone, LaRon Landry is gone....hmm.. very intimidating with a new QB and new offensive scheme....Yeah i think that bayou heat is affecting your thought process. Pete Carroll will just run the table and be sitting in New Orleans with a glass of lemonade waiting for some bruised and battered team to show up so he can get his 3rd national title.

usc is going run the table. lsu on the other hand is going to lose next week when they finally play somebody outside the sec.miss st. looked like crap on both sides of the ball and it wasnt lsu it was a lack of talent and no imagination in general.
lsu better hope they never have to play a complete team this year.maybe florida but they lost alot of players tennesse and georgia are good but wait lsu was to chicken to play them this year. thats the thing with you sec honks is you say the conference is so tough but you somehow miss out on many of the top schools playing each other.

Cal or UCLA, Nebraska doesn't stand a chance. Remember two years ago when the Trojans put up like 70 on them, jeez that was funny, and I hate USC!

How many times has USC been ranked #1? why does everyone think USC is such a beast. they blew it against texas, because they were full of themselves. can we say one national title last 27 years and 1 tie, their the proclaimed giant but how is it, they havent been champs in forever. they have talent and coaching no doubt about that, but i will call them champions when they win the national title. i see them making it to the national title game, but it depends on who they play if they will win or not.
