no but sometimes i wish i could. sometimes beauty is as simple as a mathematical principle. look at nature. the golden mean almost singularly rules the mathematical aesthetic. studies have been done that define symmetry of facial structure as what we as humans consider beautiful. now i'm thinking it might be what artists conceive in terms of human form. beauty is what inspires. beauty is what creates a feeling of being a part of something more than yourself. aesthetics require a high level of intelligence and the ability to discern various hierarchies within the context of social opinion. people who claim to know beauty are generally smarter. so maybe beauty is merely a carrot dangling on a stick as a distraction for the personal ego.

at some point one must make decisions that run counter to the highest aesthetic quality and address pragmatic and functional values which are necessary for people to live in an imperfect world. alot of ethical work is done without this vision of aesthetic perfection, only because often there is just no room for this pursuit when battling the everyday illness, corruption, and general ego consciousness that pervades a society. to be "in the trenches" so to speak.

a true hero recognizes and permits both aesthetics and ethics to exist within their proper context. being in the trenches does not exclude a view of the stars.

Since "beauty" is a concept, it IS important to life. It gives us a stepping stone or control measure, if you will, as to what the range is. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. Although many things can be agreed upon, some things can not. Beauty is the concept that something is pleasant to look at and, consequently, gives us a feeling of serenity....thereby being different than "pretty".
Life without beauty could exist....but we'd all have to agree that nothing is beautiful, lol......so, I don't think so....

Ah, what is beauty indeed? It is not merely an object for viewing. It is a wonderful feeling that a person experiences. It can be an object, a thought, an emotion, a deed. It is extremely personal.

Yes, it is important in life, for it brings us delight and joy. It also evokes awe. Therefore, we are humbled. This is a virtue.

I would not like to imagine life without beauty. Life with beauty is full of color and music.

we defines beauty as that which brings enjoyment to the person who looks or contemplates...subjective properties as properties that require subjects of the right sort to make a difference. When we say something is beautiful, are we recommending to others that they should take delight in it?

If we think something is beautiful then we want everyone to agree with us.
The world would not be better off because what we find beautiful is a reflection of our personality and individuality.

There is a saying that "truth is beauty and beauty is truth!"

cheers :)

Beauty is an essential component or constituent in the Will. I do not need to imagine a life without beauty; I have experienced it first hand in moments fear ridden. 'Fear robs the moment of peace, beauty and contentment.'

Importance: YES. it's very important in life. by beauty we can mean both, inner or external beauty. in our life inner beauty plays a crucial role. as much beauty we hold in our mind our life become more peaceful and easy. now it comes about the external beauty that means 'appearance'....to be frank it means nothing to me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is ultimately what pleases the senses and our reason. As such, it is what pleases us with our perception of reality.

Beauty is one of those things that has no intrinsic value but makes life worth living. Nothing like moment of beauty as a respite from humdrum ugliness.

I reckon there's beauty in all life, even a worm - just as there is in all inanimate things, too, if you look keenly enough. And the beauty in the whole interconnected world and universe is breathtaking - without any need for supernatural veils.
