ok so my mom just came home from kingsoopers, it was dark out and my dad went in to by food, my mom was waiting in the car and some guy came up to here with a nife and told her to give him money. I dont know what hapened after that cuz she didnt tell me. now i am so scared for my mom because she cant protect herself. What can my mom do to stay safe in an area thats full of those black people who get runk all day im not trying to be racist btw and i know white poeple do it too but where i live its mostly black. Help what are some tips...

First thing would be for her not to be left alone in a dark parking lot... that was stupid. She should not have opened the car for this creep to get at her. Common sense.
The rule of thumb is to not be out after dark, and if so, to take someone with you and stay together... and have someone walk you out to your car. All the grocery stores will do this.

I'm in Houston, the 4th largest city in the US. There is crime everywhere. I would also suggest taking some basic self-defense training. Karate or taekwondo... at least for you. My mother is 72 and still renews her "concealed carry" handgun license.

Don't go out after dark when you live in a bad area. Don't think a group will protect you, because thugs don't care. They have weapons. I can only pray for you, because I can't give you more advice. Although I don't agree with the "black" comment. I'd suggest you talk to your mom about getting a bottle of Pepper Spray or a small Knife of her own. Just try to stay out of bad neighborhoods and always go with somebody. Stay in places where people can see you.

ok, i have had a situation like that, ( im 15 ) im also a gymnast so i can fight very well. if they have a knife up to you they will do it, if they are back a couple of feet the can still throw it up to 20 feet, so if your going to run, be fast. but you might look into some self defence classes, u and ur mom. but in a situation like that always remain calm,
