I was just wondering if a processor comes in a motherboard when you buy it or do you have to buy it separately.

Slow movers are sometimes bundled as motherboard and processor but you still have to install the processor on the motherboard.

Retail motherboards are just that -motherboard in a box containing its manual, driver CD, backplate, and cables for HDD and FDD.

Retail PIB (Processor in a box) contains the processor chip and its matching cooler.

they are separate although... asus recently released a motherboard with onboard ddr3 memory.. this is the only onboard component of this kind that i am aware of
normally processor/memory/motherboard are the main components you will want to splurge a little on

Sometimes, retailers will give you a bundle, sometimes you have to buy them separate. If you purchase them separately, make sure they are both compatible (use the same kind of socket).
