I don't know why but smoking all of the sudden started to turn my stomach and make me nauseous. When I quit enjoying it then I figured why keep doing it so I just quit. I am however guilty of smoking maybe 10 or less cigarettes per year when I have a few drinks or am socializing. I quit for the most part 11 years ago or so and even with the seldom cigarette I may have, I have never had the urge to buy a pack and continue to keep smoking. When I have the occasional cigarette someone always gives it to me. :)

I did it cold turkey - for me it had to be definitive. Easing out of it just drug out the misery. It was really hard, but well worth it- I feel soooo much better. And I truly believe once an addict, always an addict. Once before when I quit, I made the (wrong) assumption that I could have one at a party. I had one and was physically sick from it, but the next day that craving kicked back in with a vengence!!! So don't let your addiction trick you into thinking you can have "just this one."
GOOD LUCK!!!

I quit years ago when I was pregnant & it made me sick. The best way to quit is cold turkey - just quit completely. I know some people chew nicotine gum sometimes just to get over the worst of it. It's not easy. Good luck!

Husband quit "cold turkey" after 25 years. He said was having trouble breathing like he could before. When he made mind up to quit thats all it took, he never touched one since( been 6 years now).

Attack of the bronchitis! Had to or would not breathe for much longer. Went cold turkey after yet another bout of the wet-lung misery.

I have not had another "chest cold" since!

That was 10 yrs ago that I quit. And I can't stand the smell of it; my kids come home from their dad's smelling like ashtrays.

Cold turkey. I was pregnant and didn't want any complications so I just quit. I had smoked for 6 years before that.

cold turkey just got tired of it and never picked it up again. I quit 12 years ago and I still love the smell. I don't mind if someone smokes around me, I actually welcome it the smell immediately calms me!
