I have smoked weed for years, on and off. I have never used any other drugs. I don't believe it's a gateway drug.
The 'gateway drug' argument doesn't really stand up to the facts. In places where pot is hard to get (like Texas) most heroin addicts never used pot, they started on heroin! In places where pot is easy to get (like California) most heroin addicts used pot before they used heroin.
But even then, just that fact doesn't mean what you might think. Every serial murderer in the US once drank milk, so can you conclude that it was the milk that made them serial killers?

Weed and alchohol as well as all other drugs are way more about the people you do it with than the drug itself. I'll say that I've lived, drank, smoked (cigarettes) and had fun, but I never lost sight of myself. From the sound of the question it seems like you are thinking of trying something. If so, try to be honest about it with someone close... your parents (my parents are awesome), a friend, a relative (cousin maybe) who will listen to you and give you support. The WORST thing that can happen is to be somwhere sipping wine or smoking weed and having someone pull out something heavy! I have heard horror stories and will tell you this: most drug adicts are addicted to controlling and dangerous substances (of which weed is not one). If you don't hang out with those people, weed will never be a problem or a gateway drug because those other drugs won't be around. Same thing with alcohol! Just remember to use your head. Also check out some websites. Many will be honest about the subject because we all know "Refer Madness" was propoganda. Hope I helped...

I smoked weed a little back in the day.... I also popped a few pills but only a few times. I dont think it was a gateway drug for me but I was not getting high everyday or ever dependent on it.

i started on weed when i was 14 by the time i was 18 i had done almost EVERY drug out there it is definitely a gateway drug because when you smoke it it gets you to be around different people who smoke it and of course do other drugs as well so obviously you are going to try them

I smoke weed and no other drugs. the most recent study shows that weed is actually the opposite of a gate-way drug because people who smoke are satisfied with weed and do not feel the need to use other drugs(true w/ most but not all people).

The people you hang around are the biggest gateway for drugs.
If I have around people who drink, I drink. When I hung around people who did drugs, well, I did that too. When I hang around people who don't do anything, I dont either.
You're friends are your biggest influence.

My lawyer says I don't have to answer questions like this.
Pass the weed and praise the lord. Amen.

Yes
alcohol
Yes, it is a gateway drug.
I would never do it again.
I advise you not to. It is not harmless and not worth the short time pleasure.
